Leon at 2 months and 18 days

Leon and I had an awesome morning today. We met up with Logan (cutie at center) and Hunter (cutie on the right) and their moms, Rachelle and Lauren.

I'm so glad to be friends with these amazing ladies and to share the experiences of mommyhood with them as well.

Chris' first dad's day

Today is a perfect LA day, breezy and sunny. For Chris' first dad's day we had a lunch picnic at the park. We drove down to the Coldwater Canyon Park and set up all the goodies we picked up from Artisan Cheese Gallery. Our basket was complete with a duck confit sandwich for Chris and a rustic tuna for me- yummers! Of course it would not be complete without a refreshing bottle of chilled white wine and a cheese plate.
Leon was so curious and wide eyed the entire time and he loved watching all the kids play by the pond.
It's days like today that make me appreciate even more the love my little family gives. Chris and I agreed that we are happy to be just okay parents to Leon- both of us are not going to try to be perfect for him. One thing we will never ever skimp on is making him feel absolutely loved.

Leon's first of many height markings on his bedroom door frame. Our 'lil man is already 2' tall! I have not been around many 11 week old babies but he sure seems long for being so young.
He is sporting one of his many hilarious facial expressions in this picture.

2 months and 12 days old

I'm learning the ropes of Photoshop with Chris as my teacher and Leon as my model.

It was a particularly warm day in LA today. We normally get the cool breeze up in the hills where we live and yet today it felt summer has definitely arrived.

thank heavens!

The "Total Baby" Iphone app has been my best friend the last couple of months. It has saved me from completely giving in to postpartum amnesia. I strongly suggest that new moms out there who uses an Iphone take advantage of this nifty tool. I appreciate that it only gives me the ability to save important points like feeding time, left or right breast when nursing, diaper changes, bath time and nap time. There is also a section wherein I log doctor visits and milestones plus if needed, I have the option to print every record on paper.

Leon at 2 months and 11 days old

He continues to make Chris and I laugh... from his facial expressions to funny sounds he makes. This 'lil guy is full of personality!

He has not been a great day napper but he is an awesome sleeper at night therefore I am not complaining at all. My day is still mostly spent bouncing baby on his bouncer to help him nap but at night Leon has been sleeping 5-6 hour continued stretches... something that I could only wish for just a month ago. In total Chris and I get a full nights' rest and wake up energized.

It is true that caring for a baby gets easier as times go by. I won't dare say that I am now completely confident as I still second guess myself from time to time. However it helps tremendously now that I know Leon's cues.. when he is hungry, sleepy, frustrated, overstimulated or just straight up fussy.

In my quest to find an automatic bouncer I dragged my 'lil family to our local Right Start store to check out the "MamaRoo". As cool and space-agey as it looks, it won't take the place of an old fashioned bouncer. The MamaRoo's motion is very gentle even at its fastest speed. I just know it won't be enough to lull baby to his day time nap. I had high hopes and imagined Leon on the MamaRoo napping while I cross out laundry and cooking on my chore list.

family

My Tita (Auntie in Tagalog) Mel and my Tito (Uncle) Gene were in town over the past weekend. I'm so glad we were able to spend some time with them before they returned to the Philippines. I grew up surrounded by family and having Leon made me miss family even more. I miss the good old lazy days of hanging around, chatting and snacking all day. Nothing ever accomplished and yet totally content to just be with people I care about.

his favorite beer

We've been very brave to take Leon out on dinners whenever we can. Of course we make sure to limit our restaurant choices to family friendly ones. Sometimes Leon cooperates and other times we end up rushing our meal or taking the food to go. I admire Chris for always keeping his cool and for making sure he still enjoys his favorite beer while entertaining a cranky 'lil one.

Our Memorial Weekend....

I say this time and time again... I'm so blessed to have the sweetest and kindest mom-in-law. If only it were easy to move to NC we would. I miss being surrounded by family and I treasure each time she travels to spend time with us in LA.

Leon at 2 months old... I can't get over his adorable facial expressions. Here our 'lil man looks so proud to be standing on his feet with the help of dad.
